Step 1: Begin by checking the air pressure in all of the tyres and fill them if they’re a little low. Then, check that the oil reservoir and fuel tank levels are okay for the task ahead.

Step 2: Get onto the mower and sit down on the seat. Many newer models actually feature safety sensors beneath the seat that will prevent the machine from turning on if there is no weight on it.
